A Portland Westside town guide

Tualatin Guide

Tualatin sits along the Tualatin River in Washington County, not far from Portland. Tualatin Community Park has a playground, a dog park, ball fields, basketball courts and tennis courts, and I like how much it gathers in one spot. Ibach Park adds pickleball courts to its tennis courts, basketball courts, ball fields and playground. Both are easy places to spend an active afternoon.

When I want a walk, I start with the Tualatin River Greenway Trail, which keeps me close to the river that gives the town its name. When the weather turns, I head indoors to the Tualatin Public Library.

Property taxes

From Property Tax Compare, worked out from the counties’ own records for tax year 2025-26.

A typical $600,000 home in Tualatin pays about $6,350 a year in property taxes; most homes there, $5,800 to $7,000. A new home at that price starts at about $6,050 a year once fully taxed. Homes here are taxed at about 56% of their market value.

Estimates, not a tax bill or tax advice. A listing shows a particular home’s current bill, and in Oregon that bill stays with the house when it is sold.

Sources: the parks, trails, libraries, pools and recreation centers, golf courses and farmers markets come from OpenStreetMap, the map its contributors keep (as of 2026-10-12; sizes are worked out from its outlines). Population figures come from the U.S. Census Bureau’s city estimates. Schools, new homes and places for 55+ come from Jen’s compare sites. Checked 2026-10-12.
